An informal sneak preview of “Rara Avis”, a collective project curated by ALKU about birdsong synthesis. The compilation features contributions from 6 artists who wrote generative audio programs that imitate/recreate bird speech: Chris Brown (US), Oswald Berthold (AT), Anders Dahl (SE), Roc Jiménez de Cisneros (ES), Fredrik Olofsson (SE), and Peter Worth (UK).

Jonathan Reus
Jonathan Reus is an artist and researcher with a multi-disciplinary background encompassing fine art, music, computer science, mathematics, and marketing. His interests include embodiment in computer music, the effects of digital culture on artistic practice, and the dynamics of cross-disciplinary teams within the arts. For the last year he has been doing research and development on unique new music performance systems at STEIM in Amsterdam (www.steim.nl). At NK he will be working with low-power ARM processors to create a development framework for programmable, portable micro-instruments.
