WILLIAM BENNET a classically trained musician, in 1980 at age 18 was founding member of the group Whitehouse and original pioneer of extreme electronic music. In addition to current extensive working on the ‘afro noise’ project Cut Hands involving the experimental use of African percussion instruments, he has been involved with his mass hypnosis experimental project, Extralinguistic Sequencing, which premiered at the Tate Britain in late 2010. Has also done talks at arts/music festivals and related institutions in the UK, Japan, USA, Australia, and Sweden – notably Film Akademie (Germany), Edinburgh University, Tate Britain, CCA Kitakyushu, Yokohama Arts Triennale, T-Mobile (Germany), Ogilvy Mather (Germany) amongst others. He is a specialist in extralinguistics and unconscious communication skills and has written feature articles for Bizarre, The Daily Note, Wire, and Vice.

In his installations, performances and publications, Hecker explores specific compositional developments of post-war modernity, electroacoustic music and extra-musical investigations. Recently he presented his works at dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel; Nouveau Festival, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (both 2012); MIT Saarinen Chapel, Cambridge; Push and Pull, Tate Modern, London (both 2011) and MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt (2010). In addition Hecker has an extensive discography with solo and collaborative projects released on labels such as Editions Mego, Pan, Presto?!, Rephlex, Tochnit Aleph and Warner Classics.

Marcus Schmickler has written numerous pieces for electronic music, chamber ensemble, choir and orchestra, which have been premiered by renowned ensembles and musicicans. Next to his musical work, he has also worked on installations and radioplays as well as collaborating vastly in the field of theatre and film. Lately, he has been interested in epistemic aspects of music.
