B / B / S / / DEREK HOLZER / CLAUDIO ROCCHETTI / RESONANCE ASSEMBLY. Komposition für Fabrik by Zorka Wollny FILM SCREENING
FILM SCREENING 8PM SHARP

B / B / S /
Biography:
B/B/S/, formed in 2012 in Berlin, Germany, is a trio of Aidan Baker (Canada – of Nadja, Caudal) on guitar, Andrea Belfi (Italy – of Il Sogno Del Marinaio, Hobocombo) on drums/electronics, and Erik Skodvin (Norway – also of Svarte Greiner, Deaf Center) on guitar/violin. While each player is active with several other projects of varying musical styles, as B/B/S/ they combine the similarities and explore the disparities of those other projects – bringing together drone, noise, polyrhythms, and experimental sounds – to create improvisational music which verges and touches on, both is and is not, free-jazz, drone, psychedelic, neo-classical, and spacerock.
B/B/S/ released their debut album Brick Mask, along with an accompanying 7”, Half Moon, in February 2013 on Miasmah Records. The live document Coltre/Manto was released January 2014 on Midira Records. The group is currently at work on a second full-length studio album.
Discography:
Coltre/Manto – Midira Records (LP) – 2014
Brick Mask – Miasmah Records (LP/CD) – 2013
Half Moon – Miasmah Records (7”) – 2013
Review Quotes:
“[W]hile the volume increases via a steady, carefully negotiated incline, the music itself materialises into some beautifully unpredictable shapes…The group manage the dynamics beautifully – this is music that flows out of unconscious thought, while effortlessly avoiding the yawning jaws of improvisational cliché.”
Attn Magazine – http://www.attnmagazine.co.uk/music/6395
“Brick Mask is a seriously tranced out sprawl of minimal darkjazz dirgery, think the Necks, Supersilent, Bohren, Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, etc. Four long tracks of skittery, smoldering, pulsing, blackened jazziness.”
Aquarius Records – http://www.aquariusrecords.org/
“As Baker and Skodvin are rooted in doomy and dark music, distorted guitars are nothing uncommon. It was mostly drummer Belfi who set the tone. In the beginning more abradant and then more and more jazzy. The whole first set felt like the score to an unknown road movie by Wim Wenders and David Lynch. Scary, dusty, brutal and also tenacious.”
