Reconstructing our memories “Turntablism Workshop with Ignaz Schick

Experimental turntablist Ignaz Schick will guide participants through the manifold and rich history of experimental turntablism and its various techniques & approaches. He will give a short introduction into the history of turntablism, presenting various styles from musique concrete, fluxus, plunderphonics/downtown noise, onkyo, etc. and will demonstrate various techniques behind those approaches. This is a practical hands on workshop with a final concert of the ensemble.

material section:
we will try to provide basic tools & a few record players for the workshop. it is wise if you bring your own turntable or inform us if you have no access to a personal record player. try to also bring something like 5-10 cheap flee market vinyls of various format (7″ to 12″) which you dont worry about if being damaged and heavily. try to bring your own needles or system or take into account that damaged needles have to be refunded/replaced and that material costs are roughly about 25-30 Euros per needle. general material fee without broken needles: 15 Euro
