Sept. 22 & 23, 2012 Time 10-19h

Max / Msp / Jitter- first steps with Yoann Trellu

Max is a graphic programming environment for digital signal processing.
Msp is the extension for sound: set of audio synthesis and signal processing objects.
Jitter is the extension for real-time video and 3D graphics.

Max/Msp/Jitter is the perfect tool for anybody who works in “new media” area, should it be for live performance or media installation. Max excels at real-time (interactive) processing, it can control or be controlled by almost any electronic device / controller. Since Max version 5, one can create professional looking interface. Patches can be exported (and sold) as standalone applications that do not require any other software.

The workshop focuses on Jitter but also includes audio / midi components. The goal of this workshop is to give you enough knowledge and understanding of Max’s concept to be able to start building your own audio-visual tools. The participants will be given a patch that illustrates different possibilities of interconnecting media. By analyzing and modifying this patch you will discover a few strategies for interaction between media and automated processes.

No prior knowledge of Max or programming is required but you should be comfortable with computers and motivated.

Workshop in English (+ French if required)
