In Zaire

In Zaire is a psychedelic tribal quartet involving the memers of the italian duo
G.I. Joe, Claudio Rocchetti and Stefano Pilia.
Their performance is able to bring the audience into a psychedelic trip. But
their music is not only psychedelic. They mix dub-funk drum rythms, tribal and
african percussions, electrical-indian bassguitar melodies, arabic and
psychedelic voices, and minimal-introspective electronic sounds.

Francesco Cavaliere (IT) & Marcel Türkowsky (GER)

For some reason we have always kept the adventure as a main narrative for the journey. Our sources of inspiration are always information that comes from our immediate environment. But the objects themselves don`t actually have much of a direct meaning or relationship to the actions and sounds as such …. but it is a transition that we feel that we have to make, a shifting into the invisible side and then these actions and sounds are the images that we have had since the beinning and we always mirror them again and again with different actions and narratives.

With their first encounter, Francesco Cavaliere & Marcel Türkowsky immediately shared a fascination for the meaning of musical experience and the question of the musical act within different cultural contexts. Their use of specific objects referring to stories from the process of working together and the idiosyncratic approaches constantly push them to cross the river that seperates music and fine art, to leave new bridges behind. Cavaliere & Türkowsky, inspired by the Walter Marchetti thought of freeing oneself from ‘Cage’s cage’, create works in the fields of music, performance, visual art, composition, dance, anthropology and archeology. Currently they are also associated with Alberorovesciato, Cones, Canou, Datashock, Doro Bengala, Harpokrates Edition, Jonbo n` Jovi, Mollusca, Snake Figures Arkestra, Uuhuu, Whistle, Minotaure! and Wooden Veil.
